Discover Trigger Point Pilates in Leamington Spa

Trigger Point Pilates combines classical Pilates principles with clinically informed myofascial techniques. The class is designed to help release muscle tension by addressing the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds and supports your muscles and joints. The movements used in class promote hydration and mobility of the fascia, helping your body move more freely and efficiently.

Trigger Point Pilates
By focusing on controlled movement, breath, and targeted release, regular participation in this programme can help reduce persistent tightness, discomfort, and chronic pain. It also supports recovery following injury or surgery by gently restoring movement, and helping rebuild confidence in how your body moves. In addition, regular sessions can improve everyday functional movement (such as walking, lifting, and reaching) and enhance performance in sport and dance by promoting better control, mobility, and movement efficiency.Classes are delivered in a small group setting at the My Physio Future clinic, allowing for individual guidance and a high standard of care.
What is Trigger Point Pilates?
Trigger Point Pilates is a combination of Pilates-based exercises combined with Myofascial Release (which is traditionally a hands-on therapy). Myofascial techniques are applied through movement using a range of props such as massage balls, foam rollers, and soft balls to help target specific trigger points. This approach allows you to work on core strength, control, and stability while also addressing areas of muscle tightness and restriction within the same session. The result is a class that supports strength, mobility, and tissue release together, helping you move more comfortably and efficiently.
Can you do a Myofascial release on yourself?
Yes - and this is exactly what you will learn in our sessions. Using specialised equipment, you can practice myofascial release on your own body, which is a safe and effective technique that involves self-controlled pressure to trigger points within the connective tissue (fascia). This approach can help ease discomfort, reduce muscle tension, and improve mobility, while giving you practical tools you can use independently outside the clinic.
What does it feel like when a trigger point is released?
Trigger points often feel like small, tight knots within muscle tissue. In many cases, pressing on a trigger point may cause little or no discomfort. At other times, trigger points can become more sensitive and may feel tender or painful when pressure is applied. Applying sustained pressure to these areas can sometimes provide immediate pain relief, both locally and in related areas of the body, while also helping to reduce overall muscle tension
